Find inspiration and encouragement for your own journey by reading a small part of Siera’s story:

“I am a first-generation, non-traditional student and working professional. My dream of attending college was postponed for over ten years due to many challenges I faced after graduating with honors from high school in the middle of a recession. Such challenges required me to become a financial provider for my family of five as an 18-year-old.

I have sacrificed so much to have the opportunity to attend college at Davenport University. As a proud military wife, I have also learned to embody a self-reliant and confident personality, which has allowed me to become very determined and self-motivated with every goal I set for myself.

I am the proud granddaughter of farmers and the strong daughter of immigrants, and through my resilience, I have been able to inspire my family in a new and exciting way! Additionally, I have a deep love and respect for culture, art, food, nature, and family.

I am very connected to my Mexican roots and through my love for my heritage, I have learned to stay humble and through my values, I have obtained the strongest work ethic imaginable. My story proves that it is never too late to accomplish any dream!”
