Congratulations to Jesse Miller – a recipient of the 2022-2023 Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship Award!
Here’s a sneak peek into Jesse’s journey…
“Hello Everyone! My name is Jesse A. Miller, and I am in my senior year of studies at Albright College’s School of Professional Studies in Reading, PA pursuing my Bachelor of Applied Psychology. My journey began five years ago when admitted to myself that I had an addiction and needed help. After completing a program for alcohol and drug rehabilitation, I decided that I wanted to work in the counseling field and give back to those who gave me so much.
From rock bottom, with the help of my friends, family, and professors I have been able to not only attend college, but to actually excel at something I am good at. Staying sober has contributed greatly to my academic success, and in return, excelling in school helps me maintain my sobriety.
As I observe my fellow students, I can see how we all have struggles, challenges, and we make mistakes, yet we still rise above to become academic champions. I would not be here today without the assistance of programs like yours here at Alpha Sigma Lambda, and I cannot express in words how grateful I am for this scholarship as well as the other scholarships I have already received.
Your generosity helps motivate not only me, but also the students that I talk with regarding your wonderful program and the rewards that merit can bring. It is my hope to continue in my studies through graduate school and eventually earn my PsyD working with addicts and prisoners to help them live a happy and healthy life despite their backgrounds and mistakes.
Hopefully, my story will inspire those who are a little shy or insecure about their past to take a chance and pursue their dreams like I have. It is worth it!”
Congratulations, Jesse!
