As we continue our blog series to highlight 2025-2026 scholarship recipients, this week, we are proud to feature Andrea Barolo from Penn State World Campus.
Andrea’s journey is a compelling reminder that it’s never too late to pursue new passions and reinvent oneself. Originally from Italy, Andrea has made a remarkable transition from a successful career in culinary arts to the dynamic world of digital media. As a senior majoring in Digital Multimedia Design, with certificates in IST and Digital Arts, he has immersed himself in his studies and taken on leadership roles, including serving as President of the DMD Club and as a media team intern for the Penn State Marching Blue Band.
His dedication extends beyond the classroom—Andrea attended both the SIGGRAPH Denver and SIGGRAPH Tokyo conferences as a Student Volunteer in 2024, gaining valuable industry experience and expanding his professional network. His goal is to merge his passion for design with his leadership skills, aiming for a future role in board game development, where he can combine creativity with strategic thinking.
Andrea’s story highlights the importance of perseverance, adaptability, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. Receiving the Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship supports his journey and recognizes his commitment to personal growth and professional development.
At Alpha Sigma Lambda, we are honored to support inspiring adult learners like Andrea, whose stories reflect the core values of our organization—leadership, resilience, and the pursuit of meaningful goals.
Please join us in congratulating Andrea on his upcoming graduation and well-deserved recognition! Here’s to celebrating passion, reinvention, and the bright future ahead!
