Congratulations to Bayden Collins – a recipient of the 2023-2024 Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship Award!
Bayden Collins is a student at Campbell University, majoring in Business Administration. Bayden graduated from high school in 2021 from Rocky Mount Academy with a year of college credits from Nash Community College through the Career and College Promise (CCP) Program. Throughout and after high school, Bayden interned for the North Carolina Wesleyan University baseball team and also volunteered as NCWU’s statistician for various sports. Additionally, during high school, he was the assistant to the varsity baseball coach at a local public high school and also served as the football team’s videographer. He was hired as Wesleyan’s Sports Information Director in January of 2023, becoming the youngest SID in NCAA history. Bayden has high aspirations to continue to work in collegiate athletics where he can make a positive difference in the lives of athletes.
Bayden stays extremely busy outside of work investing his time in community service. He is a member of the West Mount Ruritan Club where he participates in many club fundraisers and events. He is also on the Board of Directors for the GOP and served as a legislative page while in high school. Bayden is also very honored to be a patient ambassador for Duke University Hospital. Bayden underwent a kidney transplant at the age of two. His father donated him a kidney. At the time, Bayden was the youngest/smallest transplant patient Duke had treated. Bayden also underwent scoliosis surgery as a teenager. Through his medical journey, he has been and continues to be a walking miracle and has touched many lives with his story.
On a personal note, Bayden enjoys all sports, especially baseball and basketball. He enjoys traveling around the country visiting MLB stadiums. He also is an avid Blue Devils’ fan. Bayden enjoys country music and talking sports with family and friends. Bayden is the only child of Bard and Mindi Collins.
