Terry T. Kidd, Ph.D. is a veteran higher education leader and faculty with a career spanning nearly 20 years. Currently, he serves as Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, and Research, Technology and Innovation and is a Full Professor serving the education research and technology disciples at the St. Augustine’s University in Raleigh, North Carolina. Previously, he served as Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Workforce Development for Southern University in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he established the systems only chapter of Alpha Sigma Lambda to serve adult learners.
As a champion of innovation and higher education access, Dr. Kidd, has implemented programs and support services to serve the whole student, while providing opportunities to advance both workforce and advanced academic opportunities. He sees his work as a ministry. As a testament to this work, Dr. Kidd served as faculty and Dean of Extended Learning at the Houston Community College, where he established the first Alpha Sigma Lambda chapter in 2011 and served as chapter councilor until 2020. There at HCC, Kidd increased enrollment in Apprenticeship, implemented new online programs in Corrections Education, formed new business partnerships to advance continuing education and received over $8M in STEM grants to support workforce development initiatives. While chapter councilor, over 400 students were inducted in to ASL.
Dr. Kidd is active in NCCET, NCWE, Mensa, and Omicron Delta Kappa. He is the past recipient of the ASL Distinguished Service Award and the Tom Ayles System Building Award from the National Association of Workforce Development Professionals.
