Chapter Councilor Highlight: Dr. Whitney McDowell-Robinson at Brenau University

Continuing our series of spotlight stories featuring dedicated leaders within the Alpha Sigma Lambda community, this month we are honored to feature Dr. Whitney McDowell-Robinson, Vice President for Student Development & Engagement at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia. Her inspiring commitment to supporting nontraditional students exemplifies the heart of what it means to be a chapter councilor.

Dr. Whitney has served as Brenau University’s Chapter Councilor for the Kappa Kappa chapter for two academic years. After recognizing the profound impact of the society’s mission and the importance of celebrating adult learners, she took the initiative to re-establish the university’s chapter following a two-year hiatus. Her dedication paid off when, on March 27, 2024, Brenau’s Kappa Kappa Chapter inducted twenty-three new members—an achievement that highlights her leadership and unwavering support for nontraditional students.

For Dr. Whitney, serving as a Chapter Councilor is about more than recognition; it is about advocacy. She describes her role as a champion for her students’ success—whether it’s during their journey through matriculation, retention, graduation, or financial independence. She understands that these students face numerous challenges in balancing life’s responsibilities, yet they persevere and thrive because they have mentors and advocates like her.
