As part of our ongoing series celebrating the extraordinary efforts of our dedicated Chapter Councilors, this month, we’re excited to shine a spotlight on Melissa Semione. Melissa is the Chapter Councilor at State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego, and below she offers a firsthand look at the inspiring work happening within the community…
“Serving as the Alpha Sigma Lambda Eta Gamma Chapter Councilor at the State University of New York at Oswego is a true privilege for me, as it allows me to work closely with adult students who are balancing so much in their lives. Watching these students gain confidence and grow both personally and professionally is one of the most rewarding aspects of my role. Many come to the university with doubts about their abilities or whether they can truly achieve their educational goals, and it’s incredible to witness the transformation as they realize just how capable they are. Seeing them reach milestones they once thought were out of reach brings me immense joy.”
Melissa went on to say:
“I am continually inspired by the dedication and resilience our students demonstrate. They often juggle employment, family responsibilities, and various other challenges, yet they persist in their education with determination. Being part of their journey, cheering them on, and celebrating their successes is something I hold close to my heart. It’s an honor to support them as they accomplish things they never thought possible, and I couldn’t be prouder of all they achieve.”
No doubt – Melissa Semione exemplifies the leadership and dedication that define the Alpha Sigma Lambda community, and we’re grateful for her involvement! Her passion and commitment to supporting adult learners truly reflect the core values upheld by ASLHS.
Stay with us each month as we continue to highlight the inspiring leaders among us and explore the vital contributions they make to shaping the future of Alpha Sigma Lambda!
