David Lee McCaulley Jr. – 2024-2025 ASLHS Scholarship Award Recipient

Today we’re pleased to congratulate David Lee McCaulley Jr. – a recipient of the 2024-2025 Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship Award!

In his own words, here is a little glimpse into David’s story:

My name is David Lee McCaulley Jr. I am from Hayden, Alabama. I will be a first-generation college graduate and undergraduate in my family. I am a devoted father to three beautiful daughters and a brother to five other siblings. My life is a blend of work, academia, and family, with each aspect enriching the other. As a senior at Athens State University, I am majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology, Behavioral Science, and Education. These fields of study reflect my deep interest in understanding the intricacies of life and the human mind-brain-behavior association. Outside the classroom, I find solace in my hobbies, including gardening and leisure time in nature. These activities not only allow me to unwind but also serve as a constant reminder of the beauty and complexity of the biological world that I am so passionate about.

In the near future, I see myself as a high school biology teacher. I am excited about the prospect of igniting young minds with the wonders of biology and fostering a love for the subject in the next generation. However, my aspirations continue beyond there. My long-term goal is to delve deeper into Biology by obtaining a PhD. I dream of sharing my knowledge and passion for the subject as a community college or university professor.

I firmly believe that success is the consequence of hard work. This belief fuels my dedication to my studies, career goals, and role as a father. My journey is a testament to my commitment to my goals and relentless pursuit of knowledge. I firmly believe in the power of education and the doors it can open, and I am committed to using my knowledge to make a difference in the lives of others.

Congratulations David on all you’ve accomplished. The future looks bright!
