Offering a little sneak peek into her educational journey, Erin shares…

“After earning my General Education Diploma in 2019, I decided to pursue higher education. I always had an affinity for foreign language and psychology, so I chose to study Psychology and Spanish at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. As I took classes like the History of the African Diaspora, Spanish Translation and Interpretation, and Abnormal Psychology, I quickly realized I had fallen in love with learning.

During the 2023-2024 school year, I dove into sensation and perception research; however, I am equally intrigued by mental health. The way that emotions are experienced and articulated in different cultures absolutely fascinates me. These interests guided my decision to learn Arabic and about Arab culture. I sought to gain insight into Middle Eastern cultures by enrolling in Arabic classes and applying to a study abroad scholarship. Currently, I am studying abroad in the Middle East to further supplement my education. I am excited to continue psychological research and hopefully pursue more study abroad opportunities when I return to the U.S. In the future, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology and hope to make contributions to both academia and serve the very communities that have helped me become a well-rounded individual and lifelong learner.”
