Congratulations to Gary Merryman, a 2023-2023 ASLHS Scholarship Award Recipient.

Gary is at UMGC working towards a Bachelor of Social Science with a minor in Diversity Awareness. ⁠
He dreams of one day starting a nonprofit to house, feed, provide job readiness training, placement, and healthcare to displaced LGBTQ+ youth and young adults with the hopes of also incorporating and providing rescue animals to those who are interested. ⁠

Coming from adversity, Gary says, “I understand the importance of advocacy and support, and I hope to be the person that I needed when I was struggling to find myself in a society that was not built for me. Thank you Alpha Sigma Lamba for supporting my dreams!”⁠
