Join us today in congratulating Jessica Yannotta – a recipient of the 2024-2025 Alpha Sigma Lambda Scholarship Award!
As a senior at Mont Alto campus of The Pennsylvania State University, Jessica is majoring in Occupational Science. She shares a short summary of her journey below:
“Like many non-traditional learners, I completed my education in baby steps – first a certificate program (massage therapy), then an associate’s degree (physical therapy), and now I am finally completing a bachelor’s degree. Over the 15+ years of my educational journey, I have come to value all avenues of learning and have gained the confidence needed to pursue my educational and career goals. I currently work with college students and enjoy helping them integrate knowledge and skills from various disciplines, and I hope to continue this in the future. I also hope to someday continue my education even further with a master’s degree, or by gaining experience in research and grant writing.
Outside of the classroom, I am a spouse, parent, foster parent, peewee cheer coach, and home-cooked food lover. Every experience I have had in life has made me a better student and a stronger person. I believe that much of my success has been because of my determination and perspective as an adult learner… at the same time, I recognize that nobody succeeds alone. I am grateful for the support and help I have received over the years from my family, friends, teachers, and bosses, and now I will add the Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society to that list!”
Again, congratulations to you, Jessica and are proud of all you have accomplished.
