Leadership Highlight: Meet Dr. Brandon Lacey, Society Vice President

Continuing our series highlighting the dedicated members of our 2026 Board of Directors, today we celebrate Dr. Brandon Keith Lacey, Sr., our Society Vice President.

Dr. Lacey’s extensive experience in higher education, combined with his genuine commitment to empowering adult learners, makes him an invaluable leader for Alpha Sigma Lambda.

Dr. Brandon Lacey is an accomplished higher education professional and educator with a passion for supporting adult students in both traditional and nontraditional settings. His career has been dedicated to helping learners of all backgrounds achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals through innovative programs and holistic support.

Currently serving as Dean of Graduate and Online Programs at Wiley University, Dr. Lacey provides strategic leadership for graduate and online education initiatives. He focuses on curriculum innovation and creating high-quality, accessible learning experiences that meet the needs of working professionals and nontraditional students. His leadership emphasizes persistence, accessibility, and student success, aligning academic excellence with the realities faced by adult learners.

Before his current role, Dr. Lacey served as Director of Online Engagement and Retention at Wiley University. There, he designed enrollment strategies tailored for nontraditional learners, established Wiley’s first virtual honors convocations, and coordinated systematic virtual check-ins to maintain engagement and persistence. He also played a key role in updating and relaunching Wiley’s Credit for Prior Learning policy—expanding pathways for adults to leverage their professional and life experience toward degree completion.

Dr. Lacey’s dedication to adult education extends beyond university administration. His previous roles include Academic Advisor at Southern University at Shreveport, where he provided personalized support to first-generation and at-risk students, and adjunct faculty teaching College Success courses tailored for adult and first-generation learners. His classroom approach integrates practical skills like goal setting, technology use, and lifelong learning—empowering students to succeed.

His background also includes work with Goodwill Industries, facilitating job readiness training, career navigation, and video-based job placement services. Throughout his career, Dr. Lacey has demonstrated a remarkable ability to bridge higher education and workforce development, fostering inclusive learning environments that prioritize the success of nontraditional students.

What makes Dr. Lacey’s leadership even more inspiring is his own academic journey as a nontraditional learner. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Leadership Studies entirely online from Beulah Heights University at age 36, followed by a Master of Arts in Religion from East Texas Baptist University at age 38, all while balancing work, family, and life responsibilities. His experience navigating nontraditional pathways fuels his passion for creating educational opportunities that empower adult learners everywhere.

As Vice President of Alpha Sigma Lambda, Dr. Lacey’s leadership reflects his lifelong commitment to transforming education for adult students. We are grateful for his vision, dedication, and the inspiring example he sets for all members of our society.
