Continuing our weekly spotlight on the 2025-2026 ASLHS scholarship recipients, this week, we are proud to highlight Maria Diaz, a dedicated student at University of Arizona Global Campus whose commitment to community service, family, and personal growth exemplifies the true spirit of perseverance and purpose.

Maria is the proud recipient of the Dr. Nueffer Memorial Scholarship Award, and she is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree in Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Her aspirations to build a career in investigations, threat mitigation, and emergency planning reflect her deep desire to serve and protect her community.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Maria balances her role as a devoted wife and mother of three children. Her passion for public service shines through her active volunteer work with youth programs and parent associations, where she strives to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Her dedication to family and community exemplifies the values of leadership, responsibility, and compassion.

Maria’s story highlights how determination and a strong sense of purpose can propel adult learners toward achieving their goals, even amidst life’s many responsibilities. Her commitment to personal growth and community service not only inspires her family but also sets an empowering example for others in her community.

At Alpha Sigma Lambda, we are honored to support learners like Maria through our scholarship program.
